Caution is advised, especially with cheap devices that you can buy online, as the quality never comes close to professional laser hair removal in an institute. The choice of the right device depends on individual needs, but the laser hair removal device needs a certain wavelength and energy to be able to destroy the hair root. The energy can be adjusted on most professional appliances. On the other hand, the wavelength is predefined by the laser type.

According to the current state of science, only 2 lasers are effective for hair removal: the alexandrite and the diode laser. Diode lasers differ in the way the skin is cooled and the way the laser beams are applied – but none of this has a significant impact on the final result.

Since your hair needs to be lasered regularly for optimal results, your well-being is the focus of the treatment at our center for aesthetic treatments in Vienna. Lasers for home use are usually low-power IPL devices (IPL = intense pulsed light) and never diode lasers. This depends on the treatment area. We can laser sun-protected body zones such as under the armpits or the bikini line without hesitation. However, large areas of skin exposed to the sun should only be lasered when the sun shines less strongly outside. Let’s say: You had your hair lasered somewhere else, but you are not 100% satisfied with the result and now you want to try another device – this is possible. The only question is why you are not satisfied with the result.
For example: Light blonde or white hair can only be removed poorly or not at all with all lasers, as they contain too little or no melanin. This prevents the hair from absorbing the light from the laser. It does not matter which laser is used. We will be happy to advise you and clear up any ambiguities.
No! Take, for example, the armpits and bikini area. Laser hair removal reduces your hair count by 90 – 95%. The situation is different on the back, where we achieve a hair reduction of “only” 70 – 80%. The reason: The hair including hair growth differs depending on the body region. Therefore, the removal of underarm/intimate hair is much faster than in other places. This means that you need fewer treatments than usual to remove underarm/bikini hair.
Moles or birthmarks should not be exposed to laser beams, as this can change their color, which could cause concern for your dermatologist. The good thing is that with us, all moles or liver spots are adequately covered with a pen before treatment.
