Polynucleotide treatment in Vienna: Innovative skin rejuvenation with salmon DNA (salmon sperm)

The polynucleotide treatment is one of the most exciting developments in aesthetic medicine for natural skin rejuvenation: High-purity salmon DNA stimulates cell renewal and improves the structure, moisture and elasticity of the skin. The method is also known as the “salmon sperm treatment”. At our practice in Vienna, however, you can expect a medically sound treatment with visible, natural-looking results rather than a trend.

The polynucleotide treatment at GoAesthetic in Vienna offers you:

  • Discreet and natural: your facial expressions remain unchanged, the skin looks refreshed and more even.

  • Regenerative approach: Polynucleotides activate the body’s own processes that renew the skin from within.

  • Medically tested: We use salmon DNA preparations that have been tried and tested in aesthetic medicine for years.

What are polynucleotides in aesthetic medicine and what do salmon DNA & salmon sperm have to do with them?

Polynucleotide treatment is based on small building blocks of DNA and RNA, which are an important part of our genetic material. These molecules act as the genetic blueprint of our cells and play a crucial role in the regeneration and renewal of tissue. This is why high-purity polynucleotides are used in aesthetic medicine to stimulate the skin’s cell activity and sustainably improve the skin’s structure.

The term “salmon sperm treatment” comes from the fact that the polynucleotides used are obtained from the DNA of certain fish such as chum salmon or rainbow trout. This salmon DNA is particularly rich in nucleotides that activate the skin cells and support their ability to regenerate.

At GoAesthetic in Vienna, polynucleotide treatment is not a trendy therapy, but a scientifically proven method for gentle and natural skin rejuvenation.

Origin and extraction of polynucleotides for skin rejuvenation: Scientific background and study situation

In our Vienna practice, we only use polynucleotides of natural origin obtained from European freshwater fish intended for human consumption. Using a patented high purification process, the DNA fragments are completely freed from protein components. This achieves a very high degree of purity, which not only guarantees product safety, but also significantly reduces the risk of allergic reactions. However, people with a known fish protein allergy should refrain from using the treatment.

Originally developed to promote wound healing, polynucleotides have been part of medical research for decades. In the case of joint wear and tear, for example, they help to build up cartilage. There are now over 100 international studies on polynucleotides.

Polynucleotides have proven their worth in aesthetic medicine due to their regenerative effect on skin cells. Studies show that they improve skin hydration and elasticity and support natural cell renewal. Due to their excellent tolerability and proven anti-ageing effect, polynucleotides are now considered effective biostimulants in aesthetic medicine.

Mode of action of polynucleotides on the skin

Polynucleotides are not fillers, but biostimulators, because they can give your tissue an impulse to regenerate. As a result, the skin begins to renew itself, leading to the following measurable effects:

  • More moisture: Polynucleotides bind water and increase the skin’s ability to retain moisture. And the result is fresh, plump skin.
  • Collagen build-up: The polynucleotide treatment activates fibroblasts, which form new collagen and elastin. This makes the skin firmer and more elastic.
  • Cell protection: Polynucleotides have an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect, neutralize free radicals and thus protect against premature skin aging.
  • Better blood circulation: By stimulating fine blood vessels, the skin is better supplied with oxygen and nutrients. This supports regeneration and can also brighten the complexion.

The result: stabilization of the skin’s structure, making it more resilient and giving it a healthier, refreshed appearance – without any artificial effects or fillers.

Areas of application for polynucleotide treatment

The polynucleotide treatment strengthens the skin from within and improves its regeneration. It is ideal for anyone who wants naturally smoother skin. Although it does not replace hyaluronic acid fillers or surgical procedures, it offers subtle and lasting improvements in skin quality.
At our institute in Vienna, we use the polynucleotide treatment (salmon DNA treatment) specifically in the following areas:

  • Skin rejuvenation and wrinkle reduction: Superficial wrinkles are visibly reduced so that the skin appears fresher and more even. The treatment can also be perfectly combined with other methods such as Profhilo, microneedling or NCTF® 135 HA.
  • Eye region: Polynucleotides show their strengths particularly in fine wrinkles (crow’s feet) on the sides and below the eyes. This is because Botox is more effective in the crow’s feet area and fillers should not be injected too close to the eyelid. Polynucleotides can gently and naturally improve the appearance of the skin.
  • Hair loss: Polynucleotides promote blood flow to the scalp and thus improve the supply of nutrients. They are particularly effective in combination with PRP treatment against hair loss, also known as autologous blood therapy. After hair transplants, they are almost a mandatory treatment in the maintenance of newly transplanted hair.
  • Scar correction: Polynucleotides support tissue regeneration – ideal for acne scars or small skin imperfections. Please note: For acne scar removal, we often recommend a combination therapy for optimum results.

Whether as a stand-alone therapy or in addition to other treatments – we will advise you individually on which combination suits your skin condition.

What distinguishes polynucleotide treatment (salmon DNA / salmon sperm) from other skin rejuvenation procedures?

In contrast to fillers or Botox treatments, polynucleotides do not change facial expressions or volume – they improve the skin structure from within. But what exactly are the differences?

  • For the wrinkle injections with hyaluronic acid volume is specifically built up to fill in sunken areas. Polynucleotides have a more subtle effect: Although they also bind moisture, they do not artificially plump up the skin – your facial features remain completely natural.
  • Botox wrinkle treatments target the muscles: They relax specific areas of the face in order to smooth expression lines. Polynucleotides, on the other hand, strengthen the collagen scaffold – they improve skin quality without affecting muscle activity.
  • A injection with Profhilo can best be compared to a polynucleotide treatment.

Important to know: Deep wrinkles do not disappear completely with polynucleotide treatment and the effect builds up gradually over several weeks. On the other hand, the method impresses with natural results and improved skin texture – and can be perfectly combined with treatments such as radiofrequency microneedling (Morpheus 8™) or Ultherapy®.

What is the procedure for polynucleotide injections with salmon sperm at GoAesthetic?

  • Appointment

Simply make an appointment online or by phone. If you are unsure whether a polynucleotide treatment or another type of injection is right for you, simply make an appointment for a medical consultation.

  • Educational talk

Before each treatment, you will have a personal consultation with the doctor. Beforehand, you will fill out an information sheet in order to obtain detailed initial information.

  • Treatment

After thorough disinfection, we start the treatment. Several small fluid deposits are placed in the uppermost layer of the skin – it is perfectly normal to feel a slight pulling or burning sensation during the injection. After a few minutes, the complete polynucleotide treatment is already over.

  • Result

Immediately after the treatment, you will see fine wheals (bumps on the skin), which disappear after a few minutes to hours. The following day you will see nothing more. And important: you should repeat the injection 1-2 times to get the most out of the treatment.
