Polynucleotide treatment is based on small building blocks of DNA and RNA, which are an important part of our genetic material. These molecules act as the genetic blueprint of our cells and play a crucial role in the regeneration and renewal of tissue. This is why high-purity polynucleotides are used in aesthetic medicine to stimulate the skin’s cell activity and sustainably improve the skin’s structure.

The term “salmon sperm treatment” comes from the fact that the polynucleotides used are obtained from the DNA of certain fish such as chum salmon or rainbow trout. This salmon DNA is particularly rich in nucleotides that activate the skin cells and support their ability to regenerate.

Origin and extraction of polynucleotides for skin rejuvenation: Scientific background and study situation

At our Vienna practice , we use only polynucleotides of natural origin, derived from European freshwater fish intended for human consumption. Using a patented high-purity purification process, the DNA fragments are completely stripped of protein components. This achieves a very high degree of purity, which not only ensures product safety but also significantly reduces the risk of allergic reactions. However, individuals with a known fish protein allergy should refrain from undergoing the treatment.

Originally developed to promote wound healing, polynucleotides have been part of medical research for decades. In the case of joint wear and tear, for example, they help to build up cartilage. There are now over 100 international studies on polynucleotides.

At our institute in Vienna, we use the polynucleotide treatment (salmon DNA treatment) specifically in the following areas:

Skin rejuvenation and wrinkle reduction: Superficial wrinkles are visibly reduced so that the skin appears fresher and more even. The treatment can also be perfectly combined with other methods such as Profhilo, microneedling or NCTF® 135 HA.
Eye area: Polynucleotides really shine when it comes to fine lines (crow’s feet) on the sides of the eyes and dark circles under the eyes. This is because Botox tends to be more effective around the crow’s feet, and fillers must not be injected too close to the eyelid. Polynucleotides can gently and naturally improve the appearance of the skin in these areas.
Hair loss: Polynucleotides promote blood flow to the scalp and thus improve the supply of nutrients. They are particularly effective in combination with PRP treatment against hair loss, also known as autologous blood therapy. What distinguishes polynucleotide treatment (salmon DNA / salmon sperm) from other skin rejuvenation procedures?

In contrast to fillers or Botox treatments, polynucleotides do not change facial expressions or volume – they improve the skin structure from within. But what exactly are the differences?

For the wrinkle injections with hyaluronic acid volume is specifically built up to fill in sunken areas. Polynucleotides have a more subtle effect: Although they also bind moisture, they do not artificially plump up the skin – your facial features remain completely natural.
Botox wrinkle treatments target the muscles: They relax specific areas of the face in order to smooth expression lines. Polynucleotides, on the other hand, strengthen the collagen scaffold – they improve skin quality without affecting muscle activity.
Radiesse® is a biostimulator, just like polynucleotides, but it serves a different purpose: The active ingredient stimulates collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin and provides noticeably greater firmness and contour, for example on the cheeks or jawline. Polynucleotides work more subtly—they regenerate the skin’s quality itself and are even suitable for the sensitive eye area, which is off-limits for Radiesse®.

Important to know: Deep wrinkles do not disappear completely with polynucleotide treatment and the effect builds up gradually over several weeks. Treatment
After thorough disinfection, we begin the treatment. This involves injecting several small doses of the solution into the top layer of the skin—a temporary, mild pulling or burning sensation during the injections is completely normal. The entire polynucleotide treatment is over in just a few minutes.
Result
Immediately after the treatment, you will see fine wheals (bumps on the skin), which disappear after a few minutes to hours. The following day you will see nothing more. And important: you should repeat the injection 1-2 times to get the most out of the treatment.

Ich habe mich Aufgrund von Migräne sowie Gesichtsschmerzen zu starker Mimik und meiner Zornesfalte in die Hände von Dr. Hedrich begeben. Ich hatte viele Fragen bzgl. Unverträglichkeit oder andere Reaktionen und Wirksamkeit all diese wurden verständlich erklärt und Sorgen und Ängste aus dem Weg geräumt. Fazit gegen die Migräne hilft es mir echt gut hatte 3 mal die Migräne und Gesichtsschmerz Vorboten und die Schmerzen blieben aus und meine Zornesfalte bessert sich und dass man mir nicht jeden meiner Gedanken im Gesicht ansieht mag ich sehr da ich stark ausgeprägte Mimiken habe und mich diese nicht mehr verraten. Ich kann GoAesthetik wirklich weiterempfehlen meine Entscheidung viel auch Aufgrund der Allgemein und Notarzt Ausbildung auf GoAesthetik da ich auf einiges reagiere und ich mich echt Sicher und gut aufgehoben gefühlt habe.

Immediately after the injection, redness, slight swelling, or hives may occur, and occasionally a small bruise may appear at the injection site. However, these reactions usually subside on their own within a few hours to a few days. Rare risks, such as allergic reactions, are minimized by the patented high-purity purification process, which removes all protein components. As a precaution, we advise against treatment only in cases of a known fish protein allergy. And as with any injection, our doctors perform the procedure under sterile conditions to keep the risk of infection as low as possible.
