“Russian Lips” isn’t a patented method, but rather a marketing term. So every provider performs their own variation of the procedure. However, it always refers to the same look: a full upper lip that curves gently upward with a pronounced cupid’s bow, modeled after the shape of a matryoshka doll. But to be honest, this isn’t a lip shape that occurs naturally in Central Europe. And that’s exactly why we’re clarifying this up front: The classic Russian Lips technique often looks anything but subtle. Most of our patients, however, want exactly this middle ground—namely, the look without the treatment being immediately obvious.

At GoAesthetic, we inject vertically into the upper lip using very fine micro-droplets and deliberately small volumes. So we don’t deposit large amounts of hyaluronic acid into the lip, because that’s exactly what causes the dreaded “tube effect.” “Russian Lips” aren’t about using a lot of material, but rather about proper distribution: The upper lip builds up flatly toward the top, the cupid’s bow is accentuated, and yet everything remains soft and flexible. We usually contour the lower lip only subtly so that it harmonizes with the new upper lip.
We also recommend combining it with a lip flip on the upper lip: A small amount of Botox gently curves your upper lip outward, enhancing the effect without adding any extra volume. We perform both procedures during the same session. Good to know: The effect is visible after the very first treatment, but the typical shape can be further refined over the course of two to three sessions.
We’d rather tell you this up front than after the treatment: Russian Lips don’t work equally well with every lip shape. They’re particularly well-suited for lips where we can create a flat, heart-shaped contour with minimal volume. In those cases, just a few micro-droplets can produce a truly beautiful effect. It becomes more difficult, however, with very narrow lips or when the lip line naturally curves sharply inward. In those cases, the technique simply has anatomical limitations —regardless of who’s performing the procedure.
That’s why we’ll work together to determine whether your lips are suitable during your consultation. If Russian Lips aren’t the right choice for you, we’ll have an honest discussion about what result might suit your lip shape instead.
We set aside plenty of time for you during our initial consultation. If you decide to undergo treatment with us, the consultation is free of charge. However, if you don’t make a decision right away, we’ll charge a consultation fee of €200. The good news: We’ll credit €50 toward the cost of any subsequent treatment.
Did you know: Hyaluronic acid can also be dissolved with a Hylase treatment. So if you ever decide you’re no longer happy with your results, you’re never locked into a permanent solution at Russian Lips.
